Evaluation Consultation – This service is ideal for those seeking a better understanding of their needs, wanting a second opinion, or needing additional recommendations following a previously completed evaluation. The cost of this evaluation consultation can be applied toward an additional psycho-educational evaluation if that is recommended.
Dyslexia Screener – Concerned about reading, but unsure if a full evaluation is right for you? The Test of Dyslexia (TOD) Screener can be administered in just around 20 minutes. Designed for ages 5- adult, this screener will provide a risk and probability index to help you decide if more testing is necessary.
Full Psycho-educational Evaluation – This comprehensive assessment evaluates cognitive abilities (such as IQ), academic skills, and learning processes to identify a student's strengths and challenges. This type of evaluation is essential for diagnosing specific learning disabilities related to reading, writing, and math, including dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyscalculia, along with intellectual disabilities.
IEE (Independent Educational Evaluation) – A second opinion evaluation for a student with a disability or suspected disability. Parents can request an IEE at public expense if they are in disagreement with the school district's evaluation. The school is required to fund the IEE or file for a due process hearing to defend their evaluation.
College and Adult Learning Assessments– These learning assessments, include a full psycho-educational assessment with additional assessment options focusing on adult learning needs and preferences. Recommendations are tailored to support older students or adults who may require accommodations in higher education or testing environments (e.g., GRE, LSAT, ACT, etc.), or for those seeking guidance when choosing a career path.
Preschool Assessment of Cognition and Readiness– A preschool version of the Psycho-educational Evaluation, this comprehensive assessment will assess cognitive abilities (IQ), and school readiness skills. This diagnostic assessment will provide a baseline of strengths and weaknesses and give recommendations for a successful start in your child's educational journey.
Curiosity IQ Testing– A formal standardized assessment that strictly evaluates general cognitive ability. Although not a diagnostic assessment, this evaluation provides insights into current intellectual functioning and identifies strengths and weaknesses. The cost of this service may be credited toward a full psycho-educational evaluation if we agree that it would be beneficial.
Single Area In-Depth Analysis – A cluster of standardized assessments utilizing both cognitive and performance tests with a focus on just one area (ex. reading, math, writing, or functional daily living skills). This is not a full psychoeducational evaluation for eligibility purposes. The purpose of this assessment is for further evaluation of an already identified area of weakness. Further testing such as this, will use the newest assessments, created with the latest research to assist in further explaining specific areas of difficulty. These tests are designed to discover why these areas are difficult for the learner and will help to generate a specific plan for interventions, accommodations, and resources. The cost of this service may be credited toward a full psycho-educational evaluation if we agree that it would be beneficial.
These evaluations not only assist in diagnosing learning differences but also create a roadmap for personalized educational planning.
When families seek support for learning concerns, they often weigh whether to pursue a private evaluation or request one through their public school district. Here’s how the two compare—so you can make an informed decision that’s right for you or your child.
Why Choose a Private Evaluation?
While public school evaluations are free and essential for determining eligibility for special education services, there are some limitations:
Many families find that a private evaluation complements the school’s process, offering clarity and peace of mind sooner and with deeper insight. If you'd like to know more about how a private evaluation could support your child’s growth and success, we’d be honored to help.
MindSync Methods provides educational evaluations that identify learning strengths, academic needs, and patterns in cognitive processing. These assessments do not diagnose medical, psychological, or neurodevelopmental conditions such as autism or ADHD, and they do not determine eligibility for special education services in public schools. Eligibility decisions are made solely by a student’s ARD committee.
The data gathered through our evaluations is used to guide individualized coaching and intervention planning, ensuring that support strategies are aligned with how each student learns best.
MindSync Methods is committed to protecting your family’s privacy. All information shared during the evaluation process — including records, test results, interviews, and written reports — is kept strictly confidential and is never released without your written consent, except as required by law.
Evaluation results are shared only with the individuals you designate and are used solely to support your child’s learning, guide intervention planning, and inform coaching services. Your trust matters, and we handle every student’s information with the highest level of care, professionalism, and ethical responsibility.
