Educational Evaluations FAQ

Payment

Do you accept insurance?

Most insurance companies do not cover educational evaluations since they are not considered medical. For this reason, MindSync Methods does not submit claims to insurance. However, we are happy to provide itemized receipts and documentation for our assessment and consulting services should you wish to submit for reimbursement.

What is the Cost of an Evaluation?

Rates for our evaluation services depend on the type of assessment desired. All assessments are offered for a flat fee, with upfront pricing established prior to the evaluation. Price lists are available upon request. We offer a free 15-minute interest consultation to help you decide our services are right for you. For those seeking assessment consulting regarding existing evaluations, a one-hour session is available for $150.

What payment methods are accepted?

We will accept payment plans for our assessment and consulting services. Final payments are due prior to the release of the evaluation services report. All major credit cards, Apple Cash, cash, and checks are accepted.

Scheduling

How do I schedule an appointment?

Call 281-810-8891 or email info@mindsyncmethods.com to schedule your initial session for our assessment or consulting service.

How long will the evaluation take?

Each assessment session is individualized based on age and evaluation type. Our evaluation services can involve testing sessions that range from 2-6 hours, depending on these variables. To better meet the needs of each client, we often break testing into 2 sessions. We will discuss the approximate testing time prior to your first appointment.

When will I receive my results?

Reports including all results and recommendations are typically completed within two weeks of testing. A consultation is included with all evaluation services and typically lasts 1-2 hours, providing valuable assessment analysis and guidance for moving forward.

Preparation

What kind of paperwork needs to be completed?

When you schedule your testing appointment, the diagnostician will send electronic documents for you to complete prior to testing. This will include standard agreement and consent documents, as well as background information forms and behavior checklist. School records and teacher forms are also requested in most ca. Please provide your child’s teacher with the forms they need to complete ASAP so they can return their completed forms before testing, ensuring a smooth process for your evaluation.

What should I bring the day of testing?

You will not need to bring anything other than the paperwork we send to you when we set up your child’s evaluation services. We provide pencils and all materials needed for testing as part of our assessment. Additionally, we have water bottles and snacks available in our office. If your child has an allergy or food preference, you are welcome to send a snack with them.

How do I prepare for the evaluation?

Students are often anxious about the testing process. For children, please explain that they will be doing some work to understand how their unique brains function, and that even though these are called 'tests,' there is nothing they can fail. Clients should be well rested and prepared to engage in the assessment with us for a time to discover how they learn and what type of services can help them reach their optimal performance ability.

Do parents need to stay for testing?

Parents are not required to remain in our office while your child undergoes assessment; oftentimes, this is distracting. However, for young children, we do ask that you remain nearby in case you are needed by your child. You are welcome to wait in our reception area, or parking lot.

Age requirements

Is my child too young? What age is best for an evaluation?

MindSync Methods offers evaluation services for ages 3 through adulthood. I.Q. becomes much more stable around age six when most children enter school. However, preschool children who are demonstrating particular characteristics may greatly benefit from an alternative instructional program, and an assessment is the best way to determine the need.

At what age do you diagnose dyslexia?

Students need to be entering first grade before a diagnosis of dyslexia can be made. Prior to that time, assessment can be used to identify precursors to dyslexia, but additional evaluation services are needed to confirm the diagnosis once the student is in the first grade and capable of being assessed in all areas of reading. The largest body of research reveals full manifestation of dyslexic tendencies by the 2nd grade.
